As in previous years, the Berlin Clusters of Excellence will once again team up to host the “2026 SCIENCE SLAM” as part of the Berlin Science Week on 06 November 2026. The Science Slam attracts great interest every year thanks to its entertaining and inspiring presentations, which showcase outstanding research from a wide range of disciplines across the participating Clusters of Excellence.

Slammin’ like there’s no tomorrow! Ten young scientists from the Berlin Clusters of Excellence will once again take to the stage to entertain and inspire the audience. From application-oriented mathematics and a fascinating story from the history of mathematics (MATH+) to intelligent research (Science of Intelligence), green chemistry and catalysis (UniSysCat), liberal order (SCRIPTS), materials research (Matters of Activity), neuroscience (NeuroCure), and molecular prevention and interceptive medicine (ImmunoPreCept)—this broad spectrum of topics promises something for everyone and is sure to spark curiosity about the exciting research conducted within each cluster.

Creativity knows no bounds: costumes, props, videos, PowerPoint slides, and even experimental setups—everything is allowed! The only rule? Each slammer has just seven minutes to impress the audience, who will ultimately decide which presentation wins.

This year, MATH+ will be represented by postdoctoral researcher Demian Goos (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and a member of the MATH+ Office team). He will take the audience on a thrilling journey through a true crime story from the history of mathematics, focusing on one of the most famous mathematicians of all time. Together with Demian, nine other young researchers from the Berlin Clusters of Excellence will present their research in engaging, seven-minute talks in English, making complex scientific topics accessible and entertaining for a general audience.

An evening full of fascinating science, creativity, and entertaining awaits! We look forward to seeing you there and hope you will join us in cheering on our MATH+ representative Demian!
