The next MATH+ Friday Colloquium of the winter semester 2024/25 is not a usual Friday talk, but a full-day event called “A Day of Arithmetic Geometry". On the occasion of Jürg Kramer's retirement, there will be four talks by outstanding speakers: Ana Maria Botero (Bielefeld), José Ignacio Burgos Gil (Madrid), Jean-Benoît Bost (Orsay) and Maryna Viazovska (Lausanne).

The first MATH+ Friday talk of this winter semester will review the main tools in topological data analysis and how single and multi-parameter persistent homology provide insights to biological systems. Heather Harrington is director and professor of mathematics at the Max-Planck-Institute in Dresden.

The annual MATH+ Day takes place at the Urania Berlin on 18 October 2024.

As in previous years, the Berlin Clusters of Excellence are once again teaming up to organize again a “SCIENCE SLAM” for Berlin Science Week 2024 on 07 November. The Science Slam has always attracted a lot of interest in the research coming out of the participating Clusters of Excellence. Don't miss the chance to see Berlin’s youngest and brightest scientists on stage.
