MATH+ Day 2023 with General Assembly and Scientific Advisory Board
On 20 October, the fourth MATH+ Day took place at the Humboldt-Universität Campus in Adlershof, with more than 100 participants. The annual MATH+ Day provides an information and networking opportunity for all MATH+ members. All research projects present themselves, everyone learns about ongoing research activities, can find inspiration for their projects, and talk about future collaboration with other scientists.
The MATH+ Day started in the morning with a poster session and lively discussions of the presented research results from the projects. The posters showed the diversity of topics and activities within mathematics and across disciplines, such as life sciences, transport and network disciplines, material sciences, and humanities and social sciences.
Following the poster session, MATH+ Chair Michael Hintermüller gave a talk about Research Data Management in the Mathematical Research Data Initiative (MaRDI) – a platform for knowledge dissemination, quality control, and scientific discourse. After the lunch break, the MATH+ Day ended with the General Assembly of the MATH+ members and the Chair’s report.
The MATH+ Day was accompanied by a three-day meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), composed of internationally recognized scientists from the US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and France. The MATH+ Board updated the SAB members on the current status of the MATH+ research activities, and discussed plans for the second round of the Excellence Strategy. Furthermore, they had several meetings to interact with students and researchers. A final discussion with the MATH+ Board and recommendations from the evaluation process of the SAB concluded the meetings.
Everyone was delighted that the MATH+ Day once again was an excellent opportunity for discussions, networking, and exchanging of ideas about future collaboration and plans.
