2026 Celebration

In July 2006, the three mathematics institutes from Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität, and Technische Universität announced the founding of the Berlin Mathematical School (BMS). In October of the same year, the DFG announced that the BMS would receive funding as a graduate school within the “Excellence Initiative.” 20 years later, we are happy and proud to celebrate not only the 20th anniversary of the BMS, but also to mark this milestone by launching the 2nd funding period of Cluster of Excellence MATH+.

Celebrations will begin with MATH+ Day, and include a Celebration Ceremony on 17 November and a two-day conference featuring outstanding keynote speakers and BMS alumni.

Outstanding mathematicians with a Berlin connection in their keynote lectures and our BMS alumni will provide an idea of the breadth of the research done in the BMS and MATH+.
