A major success for Berlin’s mathematics community: MATH+ will continue to receive funding for another seven years as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments. The German Research Foundation (DFG) thus recognizes Berlin’s international leadership as a center for innovation in applications-oriented mathematics.

On 12 May 2025, MATH+ celebrates “International Women in Mathematics Day” by introducing the new MATH+ Hanna Neumann Fellows: Monika and Alice Marveggio, who have just arrived in Berlin for their research stays and collaborations at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

A research team around MATH+ Professor Max von Kleist has developed an ultra-fast, reliable, and cost-effective method for barcoding and demultiplexing direct-RNA (dRNA) sequencing data from Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) devices—enabling more advanced experimental designs in epi-transcriptome research. These results were published in “Nature Communications”.
